RETF basics
One token for a basket. The assets inside keep earning in their own vaults.
RETF means Rostr ETF
An RETF is one SPL token for a basket you pick. The basket is a set of vault shares, liquid staking tokens, stablecoins or any other SPL token held in a reserve owned by the RETF. Hold the token and you own a pro-rata piece of that reserve. Anyone can create one, and every RETF follows the same rules for bond, mint and burn.
sRETF
sRETF is the staked version. Deposit RETF into the stake pool and receive sRETF, a share of that pool. The program pays fees and expansion into the pool as RETF, so one sRETF redeems for more RETF over time. Unstaking is instant: burn sRETF and take your share of the pool back out.
The three moves
- Bond. Lock money in. The first bond turns a new RETF on. You buy RETF at a discount, the program mints and stakes it for you at once, and your principal vests over the period you choose.
- Mint. Put the basket in, take RETF out. You deposit pro-rata against the reserve, so a mint leaves the backing of each RETF unchanged. Mint to get tokens you can hold, move or sell now.
- Burn. Give RETF back, take the basket out pro-rata. Neither the creator nor the protocol can pause a burn.
Backing and exits
| Token | Backed by | Exit |
|---|---|---|
| RETF | The reserve: every basket asset, pro-rata | Burn to the basket (or to cash on a cash RETF) |
| sRETF | RETF sitting in the stake pool | Unstake to RETF at the pool rate, then burn |
| Bond | sRETF held in escrow for you | Claim what has vested, then unstake |
Reward sources
Rewards come from two funded sources. Minters and burners pay fees in RETF, and the stake pool receives its share of each fee. A Policy RETF also expands supply to stakers once per eight-hour epoch, at a rate the creator sets. An Open RETF has no expansion. Staked RETF earns; liquid RETF in your wallet earns nothing.
Creator right
The creator of an RETF holds a standing right: a share of every fee and every epoch expansion, paid as sRETF. The right has no redeemable principal. The creator can pause mint and bond on their RETF, adjust the expansion rate within the cap, or hand the role to another wallet. The creator cannot touch the reserve.
Disclaimers
- An RETF is an onchain pattern, not a registered security, fund share or stock ETF.
- Funded sRETF growth does not guarantee a higher market value or any fixed APY.
- Rewards depend on the fees people pay and the expansion rate the creator sets.
